According to reports, the Washington Wizards and the reigning NBA champions have reached an agreement to exchange former first-round selection Dillon Jones for a second-round pick. The Thunder are bringing back Colby Jones, who the organization intends to cut right away. The Thunder's decision is obviously a cost-cutting one. A number of the team's top players are still on rookie contracts, which keeps the Western Conference juggernaut below the luxury tax threshold. However, in the upcoming years, the team's salary can become a significant problem.
Jones, whom the Thunder acquired in the first round of the 2024 draft, helped OKC trim their losses. The franchise lost five second-round selections when it selected with the 26th overall pick. During his debut season, Jones didn't play much. In 54 games, he averaged 2.5 points on 38.3% shooting, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. With the Wizards still in the midst of rebuilding, the Weber State grad will face considerably more criticism.
