Cam Whitmore was acquired from the Houston Rockets on Saturday by the Washington Wizards, who took a chance on potential.
After failing to establish a significant role with the team over the previous two seasons, Whitmore appeared to be a strong candidate to be traded from Houston this offseason. However, it became evident that the forward's role with the team was not expected to increase going into 2025 when Dorian Finney-Smith signed a free agent contract. Whitmore needed to find a new home, and luckily, the Rockets front office collaborated with the Villanova product and his team to find a place where he could grow and succeed. The talented wing was therefore added to an already stacked group of young players in Whitmore and his team's reconstruction when the Wizards, who appeared to be a desired landing location, finally won the sweepstakes for him.
