Boston are exploring the possibility of signing Devin Carter once he officially clears waivers, following his release from the Atlanta Hawks. The 2024 No. 13 pick arrived in Atlanta via a June trade with Sacramento, but injuries derailed his early NBA trajectory. Shoulder surgery delayed his debut, and recurring ankle, back and calf issues limited him to 74 games across two seasons, producing modest averages and inconsistent shooting. Yet Carter’s final stretch last year revived interest: over his last 12 appearances, with expanded minutes, he delivered 15 points, five rebounds and nearly four assists per game, showing improved efficiency and renewed confidence.

Boston’s cap situation complicates any move, with the team sitting just below the luxury‑tax threshold and already carrying 14 guaranteed contracts.
