In Game 1, Cleveland was outhustled and outrebounded, but in Game 2, they put out a much more complete effort and defeated the visiting New York Knicks to even the series heading to New York City. As thorough as the Cavaliers' effort was, Darius Garland, their young star point guard, was in charge. Garland scored 26 points in a blazing first half and appeared unstoppable from long range. Garland was unstoppable for the Knicks, whether he was shooting uphill or from beyond the arc.
Garland was excellent throughout the game and was unquestionably the Cavaliers' winning factor, but Caris LeVert was as crucial off the bench. LeVert scored 24 points on 9-16 shooting, but he also made several difficult buckets that came at crucial times as the Knicks began to establish some momentum.
