Markieff Morris, a seasoned center/forward, has been re-signed, the Dallas Mavericks announced on Saturday. Morris gives the Mavericks' frontcourt more size, which was a priority for the franchise during the summer. Morris played in eight games for the Mavericks last year, making one start, and he did so while averaging 4.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 8.8 minutes. He made 36.4% of his three-point tries and had a 42.4% total field goal percentage.
The Dallas first hired Morris on February 6, 2023. In exchange for guard Spencer Dinwiddie, forward Dorian Finney-Smith, a 2027 second-round draught selection, a 2029 first-round draught pick, a 2023 second-round draught pick, and All-Star guard Kyrie Irving, the Brooklyn Nets sold him and All-Star player Kyrie Irving to the Mavericks.
