Gibson outlines Clippers’ reset plan amid leadership suspensions

Interim governor and CEO John Gibson has set a new course for the Los Angeles Clippers following the suspensions of Steve Ballmer and Lawrence Frank and the trade of Kawhi Leonard. In a video message on 22 September, Gibson emphasized communication, regulatory compliance and a full review of basketball and business operations as the organization’s guiding pillars. He pledged to strengthen relationships across players, staff, fans, sponsors, league officials and local communities, stressing humility and intentional action.

Compliance remains central after the NBA’s investigation into financial irregularities, which resulted in a $30 million fine and the loss of five first‑round picks. Gibson confirmed the temporary leadership structure with Trent Redden, Mark Hughes and head coach Tyronn Lue. The new group oversaw the deal sending Leonard to Toronto for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick and multiple picks. With limited draft capital, Gibson urged accountability and optimism, insisting the franchise’s best days are still ahead.
