Haywood Highsmith is set for a quick reunion with the Phoenix Suns. League sources told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype that the forward will re‑sign with the team, while agent Jerry Dianis confirmed to Shams Charania that the agreement is for one season. The move comes days after Highsmith was waived and cleared waivers, becoming a free agent. His previous contract included a $1 million guarantee on a $3.018 million salary for 2026/27.
Highsmith missed most of last season following meniscus surgery and a subsequent setback, returning only in February on a minimum two‑year deal. He appeared in seven regular‑season games and two playoff contests. The new contract is expected to be another minimum deal, bringing Phoenix back to 15 standard players and reducing its second‑apron cushion by roughly $6.9 million. Luxury tax projections rise to about $50.1 million.
Before Phoenix, Highsmith was a reliable rotation piece in Miami, offering defense and perimeter stability.
