Amen Thompson led a stifling defence against Stephen Curry, Dillon Brooks had a game-high 24 points, and the Houston Rockets defeated the Golden State Warriors 106-96 in San Francisco on Sunday night, moving them closer to securing the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference. The Rockets (52-27) secured no worse than a tie for second place in the Western Conference thanks to a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds from Alperen Sengun and 21 points from Northern California native Jalen Green.

In contrast, the Warriors (46-32) ended a five-game winning run. With four games left, the defeat put them in a four-way tie for fifth place in the Western Conference, one half game behind the Denver Nuggets in fourth place.
