Paul George made his season debut for the Philadelphia 76ers, helping them to a 110-108 victory over his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers. George contributed nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists in his return.
"It felt great to finally play basketball again," George remarked. "It's been, like, eight months since I played, so it was a long journey... Just rusty, but I feel good."
Coach Nick Nurse was pleased with George's performance despite the modest stats. “Not bad," Nurse commented. "I think he did a great job on the defensive glass. And as soon as he got it, he was throwing it ahead and we were out on the break."
George, who played only 41 games last season and had knee surgery in July, is being gradually reintegrated. Meanwhile, teammate Joel Embiid remains sidelined with a knee injury. Nurse stated Embiid is improving, but not yet pain-free.
