Following a loss to Indiana where he was benched for the final 4:32, LaMelo Ball is reportedly "increasingly frustrated" and open to a trade, according to Yahoo Sports’ Kelly Iko. Although Ball recorded 18 points and 9 assists, he shot a poor 5-of-21 in the defeat, which dropped Charlotte to a 4-11 record.
Once the undisputed future of the franchise, the 2021 Rookie of the Year feels restricted by the team's slow pace and desires a faster tempo. The dissatisfaction appears mutual; the Hornets' front office has reportedly grown "disillusioned" with Ball, largely due to his chronic ankle issues, and no longer considers him a foundational piece. Consequently, the team is open to moving him.
However, finding a trade partner may prove difficult. Despite his youth and talent, Ball’s significant injury history could limit his market value, making a once-unthinkable divorce a concrete possibility.
