Leonard is signing a 10-day contract with the Heat

Meyers Leonard, a former standout for the University of Illinois, has been out of the NBA for over two years. The 7-footer will sign a 10-day contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, according to ESPN. For using an antiseptic slur on a video game livestream, Leonard was released by the Oklahoma City Thunder and moved from the Miami Heat in 2021. He originally received a one-week league suspension and a $50,000 fine. Subsequently, he was passed over by all teams. Leonard discussed the incident on ESPN's Outside The Lines last month.

Leonard, who represented Illinois from 2010 to 2012, has worked with Florida's Jewish community members over the past two years. The Trail Blazers selected Leonard in the first round; he spent the first seven years of his career there. Leonard was born and raised in Robinson, Illinois.
