The Dallas Mavericks have waived and stretched third-year forward Olivier Maxence-Prosper, according to multiple reports. Marc Stein of The Stein Line noted that Dallas had explored trade options for Prosper or Jaden Hardy, both on affordable contracts, but no deal materialized. Interested teams reportedly wanted draft compensation attached, something the Mavericks were unwilling to part with. The move clears space for guard Dante Exum and helps Dallas stay under the NBA’s second apron, with Prosper’s remaining salary now stretched across multiple seasons.
Prosper arrived in Dallas on draft night 2023 in a deal with Sacramento that also brought Richaun Holmes. At 6’8” and 230 pounds, he was viewed as a versatile forward in the mold of Dorian Finney-Smith. Over two seasons, he logged 92 games, averaging 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds, but never fully carved out a consistent role.
