Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse offered a positive update on Joel Embiid’s recovery from persistent knee issues. Speaking to TalkSport Radio, Nurse said Embiid is “working very, very hard” and looks good, though his readiness for training camp is uncertain. The priority is ensuring he’s healthy enough to play at his best. Embiid, plagued by leg and knee problems since entering the league in 2014, appeared in just 19 games last season, averaging 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks—his lowest numbers since 2017-18.
The Sixers, who won only 24 games last year amid widespread injuries, will be counting on a healthy Embiid to lead them back into playoff contention. If he can recapture even a fraction of his 2022-23 MVP form, Philadelphia’s fortunes could change quickly after a disappointing season.
