A big night from Nikola Jokic saw Denver Nuggets win their home opener as they beat the San Antonio Spurs by102-96 on Friday night. Jokic contributed 32 points and 16 rebounds while Monte Morris scored 13 points.
Off the bench contribution was also great with Will Barton scoring 12 points and JaMychal Green chipping in with 10 points. Spurs’ Keldon Johnson posted a big score with 27 points with Derrick White on 16 and Jakob Poeltl and Dejounte Murray both scoring 15 points each to help Spurs make a comeback but could not force a win. Both the teams were running neck to neck until Nuggets changed things a big 13-foot turnaround jumper by Jokic put the team 100-93 leaving just 1:32 minutes for Spurs to respond.
