The Philadelphia 76ers have dismissed president Daryl Morey while reaffirming their commitment to head coach Nick Nurse following the team’s sweep in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The loss to the New York Knicks marked the end of Morey’s sixth season overseeing basketball operations, and ownership moved quickly to initiate a leadership change.
Managing partner Josh Harris said he and Morey agreed it was time for a fresh start, acknowledging the frustration of fans and the organization’s failure to meet expectations. Former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers will lead the search for a successor and oversee the department on an interim basis.
Under Morey, Philadelphia posted a 270‑212 regular‑season record but went just 28‑26 in the playoffs, never advancing beyond the second round. The Sixers returned to the postseason this year after missing out in 2024‑25. Myers, who built four championship teams in Golden State, joined Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment in 2025.
