The Los Angeles Lakers are exploring trade options to add a third star alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and one potential target is Jerami Grant of the Portland Trail Blazers. NBA analysts, including Wes Goldberg from the "Locked on NBA" podcast, have suggested that the Blazers may look to "dump" Grant for a first-round pick and expiring contracts.
While Portland has reportedly been asking for two first-round picks, Goldberg believes they might need to settle for less, advocating for a deal with the Lakers. Grant, who is under a five-year, $160 million contract, will earn nearly $30 million next season. Given the Blazers' dismal 21-61 record last year, such a high salary does not align with their rebuilding efforts. Trading Grant to the Lakers could provide Portland with future assets while giving Los Angeles the additional firepower needed to compete in the Western Conference.
