Chauncey Billups, the 2004 NBA Finals MVP, and a five-time NBA All-Star, never was on top of the coaching front after spending 17 years in the court. The Blazers seem to side with Billups over potential assistant alternatives like Brooklyn Nets’ Mike D’Antoni, San Antonio Spurs Becky Hammon, and Los Angeles Lakers’ Jason Kidd.

After the exit of Terry Stotts after the defeat with the Denver Nuggets, the long nine seasons’ relation ended, facing a low phase in the past five years.
