Between September 3, 2011, and April 6, 2013, when Alex Davies was between the ages of 17 and 18, his Twitter account published 17 offensive posts. The Lancashire County Cricket Club conducted its own "rapid probe" of tweets made by various players and found Davies guilty of some offenses. Davies now has two weeks to appeal.
At the investigation time, Daniel Gidney, chief executive of Lancashire Cricket, strongly denounced any derogatory language or behavior displayed by any person of the club's sportsmen or staff at any time. He also stated that the club was conducting an immediate review and inquiry and had forwarded the pertinent information to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). For now, Warwickshire head Mark McCafferty said the club expects Davies to accept his punishment with good grace.
