Australia limited to 187-3 after tight bowling from Pakistan

Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head will want to build on their unbroken 33-run stand on Wednesday. Pakistan’s Agha Salman, Hasan Ali, and Aamer Jamal each took one wicket. On Tuesday, Australia had a strong start to the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan until rain drowned out most of the action and tight bowling limited them to 187-3 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Australia crushed Pakistan in the first Test by an emphatic 360-run victory in Perth two weeks ago, with Nathan Lyon taking his 500th Test wicket.

Australia was seeking to capitalize on their home advantage after being sent into bat on a green pitch in Melbourne, with openers David Warner (38) and Usman Khawaja (42) sharing a 90-run standoff with 163 deliveries. Pakistan's left-arm seamers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mir Hamza had the ball going both ways to threaten Australia's openers now the action will continue on Day 2.
