Colin Ingram ends 22‑year career, begins coaching chapter

Colin Ingram has retired from professional cricket, bringing to a close a 22‑year career that stretched from his Free State debut in 2004 to his long, celebrated spell at Glamorgan. The 41‑year‑old confirmed the decision on social media, stressing he is not stepping away from the sport entirely as he prepares to begin his coaching career. Ingram spent 11 seasons in Wales, where the club announced he will transition internally into a developmental role. His final campaign included 628 runs in 12 matches, adding to a first‑class tally of 10,683 runs across 159 games.

Ingram also built a substantial T20 résumé, featuring in the T20 Blast, PSL, BBL and SA20, alongside two IPL seasons with Delhi Capitals. His international career peaked early, highlighted by three ODI centuries and a standout 78 in a 2012 T20I. Reflecting on his journey, Ingram said he felt ready to contribute to Glamorgan’s future from the sidelines.
