Team India's head coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19. As of now, he hasn't accompanied the team that left for Dubai to appear in the Asia Cup. As the tournament commences on August 27, India will play right on the next day against Pakistan.
"Team India Head Coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for COVID-19 in a routine test conducted ahead of the team's departure to the UAE for Asia Cup 2022," according to BCCI.
In the meantime, assistant coach Paras Mhambrey will be taking charge of the team. However, whether NCA head VVS Laxman will join them in Dubai will become clear later on Tuesday. While the majority of the members of the team departed from Mumbai on Tuesday morning, vice-captain KL Rahul, Deepak Hooda and reserve player Axar Patel will join them directly in Dubai because they were at Harare, having recently aced their Zimbabwe tournament.
