Henriques ton keeps Portugal on World Cup path

Moises Henriques struck his first T20I century to keep Portugal firmly on course for the 2028 T20 World Cup. The former Australia international hammered 111 from 51 balls as Portugal piled up 211/6 against Czechia at the Europe Sub‑regional Qualifier C in Finland. Rain later halted play with Czechia struggling at 24/5 after 8.5 overs, sealing a 91‑run DLS victory — Portugal’s fourth consecutive win of the tournament. The result sets up a decisive showdown with unbeaten Spain, also 4–0, to determine who advances to the regional final on the road to the 2028 World Cup.

Spain’s latest triumph came by nine wickets over Bulgaria. Henriques enters Friday’s clash as the event’s leading run‑scorer with 178 runs from three innings in his debut tournament for Portugal, having recently switched allegiance to his birth nation. Portugal also boast the top wicket‑taker, seamer Sebastian Cruz de Oliveira, who has claimed nine wickets in four matches.
