After two and a half hour delay brought on by a damp outfield, the hosts won by six wickets in a game shortened to eight overs each side. After being put in, Australia reached 5-90 in Nagpur on Saturday morning (AEST) thanks in large part to the scoring profligacy of wicketkeeper Matthew Wade (43 not out off 20 balls) and skipper Aaron Finch (31 off 15).
Wade added three sixes off Harshal Patel in the final over to his match-winning unbroken 45 from the first game of the series. After India's openers sped to 39 in just three overs when they responded, leg-spinner Adam Zampa (3-16 from two overs) momentarily offered Australia some hope. In the opening over, the home team scored 20 runs and hit three leg-side sixes, with Sharma hitting two consecutive sixes from Josh Hazlewood and Rahul following suit on the closing ball.
