Injured Bracewell replaced by McConchie in NZ squad

The Event Technical Committee has officially approved Cole McConchie as the replacement for Michael Bracewell in New Zealand’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad following a medical ruling. Bracewell, a skilled player aged 35, was regrettably compelled to withdraw after aggravating a left calf injury while warming up for the opener against Afghanistan in Chennai. This setback occurred during his recovery from a previous tear sustained against India, with new scans indicating a rehabilitation period of three weeks. McConchie, initially designated as a travelling reserve, has now fully integrated into the team.

A veteran of 133 T20 matches, he recently excelled domestically for the Canterbury Kings, claiming fourteen wickets. Upon his selection, McConchie expressed immense pride, calling the opportunity "surreal." He highlighted the prestige of a World Cup in Asia, emphasizing his ambition to represent his nation. He is eager to aid the Black Caps' campaign in any way possible.
