Jos Buttler has hinted that Jacob Bethell will miss the Champions Trophy.

After sustaining a hamstring injury during the current India ODI series, England captain Jos Buttler has all but guaranteed that Jacob Bethell would miss the next Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Bethell sustained the injury in the opening game of the series in Nagpur. He made his ODI debut for England in September. The 21-year-old took out Shreyas Iyer and scored an impressive 51 runs during the game.

Before the Cuttack ODI, England called up Tom Banton to cover for Bethell, who was ruled out of the current series. After the defeat to India, Buttler commented that Bethell's exclusion from the Champions Trophy is unfortunate for England since he has been one of their most exciting prospects in recent times. Bethell has played 9 ODIs for England since making his debut against Australia last year and has scored 218 runs during that time and picked up 5 wickets as well.
