KKR bring in Sisodia for injured Pathirana

Kolkata Knight Riders have named Karnataka wicket‑keeper batter Luvnith Sisodia as the replacement for Matheesha Pathirana, who has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 with a hamstring injury. Pathirana sustained the issue during KKR’s win over Gujarat Titans last weekend, cutting short what had already been a disrupted season following a calf injury that delayed his arrival after the T20 World Cup. The Sri Lankan quick, signed for INR 18 crore at the auction, bowled only 1.2 overs on debut before leaving the field in discomfort.

Sisodia, who has played 15 T20s for Karnataka, is yet to feature in an IPL match but previously spent time with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and KKR. His inclusion strengthens Kolkata’s wicket‑keeping options after Angkrish Raghuvanshi was sidelined with a concussion and a finger fracture. KKR remain in playoff contention but must beat Delhi Capitals heavily and hope Rajasthan Royals lose to Mumbai Indians.
