Oman have announced a 17-man squad featuring four uncapped players for their maiden Asia Cup appearance next month. Sufyan Yousuf, Zikria Islam, Faisal Shah, and Nadeem Khan are the new faces, while experienced opener Jatinder Singh will captain the side.
Head coach Duleep Mendis described the tournament as a “fantastic opportunity” for Oman to showcase their growth, adding that matches against giants like India and Pakistan will be a huge learning experience. He stressed the importance of mental strength in high-pressure T20 cricket, noting that one over can change the game. Oman, placed in Group A, face Pakistan on September 12, UAE on September 15, and India on September 19. Their last international outing was the Cricket World Cup League 2 in the USA in May. This marks Oman’s second major multi-nation event after last year’s T20 World Cup.
