Afghanistan head coach Richard Pybus believes his side is moving in the right direction after winning the tri-series with an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the final.
Afghanistan dominated throughout the tournament, defeating Zimbabwe by 158 runs and Bangladesh by seven wickets during the group stage before completing another comfortable win in the decider.
Pybus praised his players for accepting responsibility and maintaining their standards despite demanding heat and humidity. He also highlighted the squad's growing depth and ability to adjust to different playing conditions.
The coach singled out captain Rahmat Shah for his composed leadership, inclusive approach and outstanding batting contributions. Rahmat has now guided Afghanistan to seven consecutive ODI victories without losing a match as captain.
However, Pybus stressed that regular contests against leading international teams remain essential for Afghanistan's continued progress and long-term ambitions on the global stage.
