Ravichandran Ashwin gets taste of his own medicine

In an ironic turn of events, India's off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, a strong advocate for running out non-strikers who leave their crease early, received a warning for the same offense during the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 in Dindigul. The incident occurred in the 15th over of the first innings when left-arm spinner Mohan Prasath noticed Ashwin stepping out of his crease and halted his delivery stride. 

Quickly realizing his mistake, Ashwin stopped his movement, and a replay revealed he had his bat grounded on the crease, saving him from being run out as Prasath did not remove the bails. This close call harkened back to Ashwin’s controversial run-out of Jos Buttler during the IPL 2019, which ignited a heated debate about the spirit of the game and the ethics surrounding such dismissals.
