Karnataka's Ravichandran Smaran continued his impressive form in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy, hitting his second double-century in three matches against Chandigarh. After Karnataka stumbled to 64 for three, the 22-year-old left-hander led a remarkable recovery.
Coming in at number five, Smaran built a crucial 119-run partnership with Karun Nair, who scored a vital 95. Smaran went on to complete his highest first-class score of 227 not out from 362 balls, an innings that included 16 fours and two sixes. His monumental effort was supported by Shreyas Gopal (62) and Shikhar Shetty (59), allowing Karnataka to declare at a dominant 547 for 8.
This was Smaran's third double-hundred in his young 13-match first-class career. This recent performance, along with an unbeaten 220 against Kerala, has propelled him to fourth on the current season's run-scorers list with 595 runs at an astounding average of 119.
