Starc Opts Out of Australia’s T-20 Cricket Tour to India

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — Pace bowler Mitchell Starc and allrounders Mitch Marsh and Marcus Stoinis backed out from Australia’s tour to India owing to injuries. They have decided to instead practise at home for the Twenty20 World Cup title defense.

“Selectors felt with three games in six days across three cities, including travel to India and internally, Marsh, Stoinis and Starc are best served remaining in Australia to prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup,” Cricket Australia commented in an official statement. Opening batsman David Warner had already been reposed from the tour.

Starc played a major role in Australia’s one-day international series victories over Zimbabwe and top-ranked New Zealand in north Queensland state over the course of last month. Since then, he has reported of a persisting knee problem.
