After easily defeating the Adelaide Strikers by seven wickets on New Year's Eve, the Perth Scorchers concluded 2024 in second place on the BBL table. In front of a record-breaking 41,624 spectators at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday night, the Strikers were lifted to 8-142 thanks to a record-breaking ninth-wicket partnership between tailenders Brendan Doggett and Cameron Boyce, which prevented them from being completely humiliated.
However, with 33 deliveries remaining, the Scorchers were led by skipper Ashton Turner (35 not out of 18 balls), golden-bat leader Cooper Connolly (48 not out of 35 balls), and resurgent Finn Allen (50 off 23 balls). The visitors' main performers were pacers Richardson (3-29), Jason Behrendorff (2-14), and Lance Morris (2-19). Their only worry was when Agar exited the field due to back pain, however, the Scorchers don't think he will miss any games.
