Maiden centuries from Adam Thomas and Ollie Sykes powered Surrey to a 43-run victory over Derbyshire Falcons in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup Group A clash. Thomas struck a superb 162 from 149 balls while Sykes added 115 off 92, the pair sharing a record 265-run third-wicket stand, surpassing Surrey’s previous best set by Alec Stewart and Graham Thorpe in 1989. Derbyshire’s Pat Brown endured a tough day, conceding 114 runs from his 10 overs—the most expensive List A figures in UK history.
