Daniel Sams has inked a two-year extension with the Sydney Thunder, solidifying his future with the club ahead of BBL|15. After beginning his Big Bash career with the Sydney Sixers, he moved across town and became an indispensable figure in the Thunder setup.
With 109 wickets to his name, he is the franchise’s all-time leading wicket-taker and ranks seventh in the league’s history.
The 33-year-old’s decision was heavily influenced by the support he received from the club and fans after suffering a season-ending injury last year. “I’m extremely happy to be extending my time with Sydney Thunder,” Sams said. “We’ve built such a strong playing group with some of the best T20 cricketers in the world, and I really believe we can be the team to beat.” He noted the “incredible” support shown to him was a “big reason why I was so keen to extend,” he told press.
