This crucial triumph officially booked their spot in the semi-finals of the tournament. After winning the toss, the Afghan captain elected to bat first, a decision that paid off handsomely.

They posted a formidable total of 315 runs for the loss of seven wickets within their allotted fifty overs. The innings was anchored by a spectacular performance from Faisal Shinwari, who blasted 163 runs, well supported by Mahboob Khan scoring a solid 89. In response, Ireland crumbled under pressure, failing to chase the imposing target.
