Delhi Capitals have appointed Yuvraj Singh as assistant and batting coach for the 2027 Indian Premier League season, marking the former international star’s first formal coaching position. In recent years, he has mentored promising Indian players, including Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh.
The appointment brings Yuvraj back to a franchise he represented in 2015, when Delhi acquired him for INR 16 crore, then an IPL auction record. He will also work alongside Sourav Ganguly, recently appointed head coach, renewing a partnership forged during their time with India.
A key figure in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup victories, Yuvraj brings considerable experience. He played 132 IPL matches, scoring 2,750 runs and taking 36 wickets, alongside an international career spanning 402 appearances across Tests, ODIs and T20Is.
Chairman Parth Jindal welcomed his leadership and mentoring qualities as Delhi pursue their maiden IPL title. Yuvraj said he was eager to begin this new chapter.
