Atletico Madrid defeated fierce rivals Real Madrid 1-1

Atletico Madrid defeated their rivals Real Madrid 1-1 on Sunday thanks to a goal from Marcos Llorente in the 93rd minute. In order to preserve Atletico's slim title aspirations and prevent Los Blancos from taking a bigger advantage over Girona in second place, the Spain midfielder salvaged a point. 

At the Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid's Brahim Diaz opened the score, after replacing Vinicius Junior's place in the squad due to injury. Madrid is now two points ahead of Girona, who drew with Real Sociedad on Saturday, and ten points ahead of Atletico in fourth place thanks to Llorente's equalizer. Next weekend, Real Madrid will host Girona, the Catalan underdog, in a title match that will be made even more exciting by Llorente's crucial performance. In less than a month, there have been three fiercely contested Madrid derby matches, this was the third.
