Spanish football chief Luis Rubiales refused to resign on Friday after a week of heavy criticism for his unsolicited kiss on the lips of player Jenni Hermoso following Spain's Women's World Cup triumph.
"I will not resign, I will not resign, I will not resign. A consensual 'peck' is enough to get me out of here? I will fight until the end," shouted Rubiales at an emergency meeting of the football federation.
As a result, several Spanish players such as David de Gea, Iker Casillas and La Liga president Javier Tebas, among others, have shown their disappointment with the Spanish football boss on social media.
Meanwhile, Betis striker Borja Iglesias has decided to leave the Spanish national team until Rubiales leaves his post, the international announced on Twitter.
"For a fairer, more humane and decent football," he wrote on Twitter.
