Bochum wins with a brace from Asano

Takuma Asano scored twice as Bochum defeated 10-man Darmstadt 2-1 to record their first Bundesliga victory after 10 weeks. Japan's Asano started the scoring in the 25th minute with a low shot into the bottom corner, and he scored again in the 54th.

Fabian Nurnberger's header in the 43rd minute gave Darmstadt a brief equalizer. Unfortunately, Darmstadt became a 10-men team when Fabian Holland, the hosts' captain, was sent off with 20 minutes remaining for a foul on Moritz Kwarteng, a week after teammates Klaus Gjasula and Matej Maglica were sent off in an 8-0 loss to champions Bayern Munich. Bochum moved up to 13th, while Darmstadt dropped to 15th and Union Berlin fell to 16th, putting them in danger of relegation ahead of Saturday's game against Eintracht Frankfurt. Union finished fourth last season, but have since lost seven of their past 11 league games.
