Brest moves up to second place in the French league

After defeating Marseille 1-0, Brest, a team of ten, moved up to second position in the French league, trailing only Paris Saint-Germain. After striker Steve Mounie was sent off in the 60th minute for elbowing defender Leonardo Balerdi in the chest, coach Eric Roy's squad found themselves down. Later, Brest’s midfielder Pierre Lees-Melou scored in the 88th minute to give them a victory that put them one point ahead of Nice but thirteen behind PSG.

With 12 rounds of games remaining, Brest, who have never placed better than ninth, are still on track to make it into the Champions League for the first time, despite participating in the league with one of the lowest budgets in the league. Despite having an additional player, Gennaro Gattusso's Marseille team failed to produce anything offensively, and their winless streak now stands at seven games across all competitions.
