Brazilian midfielder Casemiro was substituted by manager Diniz in the 79th minute in Brazil's 1-1 draw against Venezuela. The coach told reporters that the 31-year-old asked for the change due to a knock to his ankle.
"As there was a stop [in play], I decided to make the three substitutions. We had a lot of control when they came on. Casemiro asked to come off due to a blow to his ankle," he told 'Globo Esporte'.
As a result, Manchester United have released a statement regarding the midfielder's injury. The Red Devils will be "keeping a close eye" on Casemiro's condition and whether he will be fit for their next Premier League game against Sheffield United.
"The severity of the problem is unclear and it remains to be seen whether the United man will feature in Brazil’s second match of the break, against Facundo Pellistri’s Uruguay," they wrote.
