Ecuador coach: facing Morocco is an important test before the World Cup

Ecuador head coach Sebastián Beccacece has underlined the significance of the upcoming friendly against Morocco, framing it as a key part of the team’s preparation for the 2026 World Cup. The Argentine stressed that the match should not be treated as a routine warm‑up, noting that it stands alongside the scheduled clash with the Netherlands as an essential benchmark for his squad.

Speaking at a press conference, Beccacece said the friendlies will help Ecuador refine its playing identity, insisting that performance will matter more than the final score. He added that both fixtures will demand maximum intensity from the players, with an atmosphere he expects to mirror World Cup conditions.

The coach also explained that the staff intend to use these games to evaluate individual form and gather insights before entering the final phase of preparations. Ecuador will face Morocco on March 27 in Spain as both teams continue building toward the tournament.
