After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the visitors broke the deadlock on 55 minutes thanks to a strike from Isaac Hayden.
Newcastle were seconds away from victory before Wolves defender Wily Boly popped up in second-half stoppage time to snatch an equaliser.
Coach Benìtez claimed about misfortune, they had needed of a victory to improve their table spot. Later he told press that it just dealt with a misunderstanding among defenders who lost concentration and Wolves were able to catch the draw at the eleventh hour.
