Fiorentina should've gone ahead 2-0 later when Ikone raced clear on goal and went around Di Gregorio, but needed one more touch, allowing Danilo D'Ambrosio to get back and clear off the line. Monza attempted to re-enter the game, but Kyriakopoulos was unable to convert a Patrick Ciurria cross, while Christian Kouame headed wide for Fiorentina. Riccardo Sottil's shot went wide, while Ciurria fired wide late on.
