Graham Potter has signed a contract extension to remain Sweden’s head coach until 2030, the Swedish Football Association confirmed on Thursday. The 50‑year‑old, who built his reputation during a transformative seven‑year spell at Ostersund before managing Chelsea and West Ham United, initially took charge on a short‑term deal in October 2025. Potter said continuing in the role fills him with pride and responsibility, calling it a major opportunity to help Sweden reclaim their place among football’s elite.
The national team is still fighting for a World Cup berth after a disappointing qualifying campaign under former coach Jon Dahl Tomasson. Sweden face Ukraine in a playoff on March 26 in Valencia, with the winner advancing to meet Poland or Albania in Stockholm five days later. Victory in that final matchup would secure a spot at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
