Hütter returns to Frankfurt on long-term deal

Adi Hütter has been appointed Eintracht Frankfurt coach until 2029, marking his return to the club after three years away. The Austrian previously led Frankfurt from 2018 to 2021 before departing for Borussia Mönchengladbach and later managing Monaco. He will officially take charge on July 1. Hütter described the comeback as deeply emotional, saying he always felt his work in Frankfurt was unfinished. The club had been searching for stability after a chaotic season in which two coaches departed.

Albert Riera, hired from Celje in January, was dismissed in May after failing to secure European qualification. He had replaced Dino Toppmöller, who guided Frankfurt to third place and the Champions League last year but struggled to balance domestic and continental demands this season.

Hütter’s return signals a reset for Eintracht, who hope his familiarity with the club and previous success can restore consistency and re-establish their competitive identity in the Bundesliga.
