Key Everton midfielder agrees to new terms

Few players are as important to Everton's success under manager Sean Dyche's system as Abdoulaye Doucoure. The box-to-box midfielder's tireless running and great energy levels make him the ideal candidate for the role of advanced midfielder playing behind the center forward in Dyche's 4-5-1 system at the Toffees.

Doucoure joined the side in 2020 on a three-year agreement with a one-year extension option, but Everton has smartly elected to extend his contract with the club until 2025. He has made 108 appearances for the Toffees, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists, but none probably more crucial than his frightening volley on the last day of the previous season to give Everton a 1-0 win against AFC Bournemouth and secure Premier League survival. The Mali international is one of the club's higher-paid players, but the exact figures of the extension have not been declared.
