Leander Dendoncker is set to join Napoli from Aston Villa

Fabrizio Romano and Sky Sport Italia have validated the information that The Athletic first reported for the player. Orel Mangala, a midfielder for Nottingham Forest, was also connected to the Serie A powerhouses, but Romano reports that Dendoncker has accepted an offer from them.

With Aston Villa this season, Dendoncker, 28, has made 15 appearances and scored one goal. He made his debut in June 2015 and has since made 32 appearances for his country, Belgium. Mangala is expected to be dropped by Napoli if they manage to recruit him on a season-long loan. Three players have already joined for the Partenopei this month: Pasquale Mazzocchi from Salernitana, Hamed Junior Traoré from Bournemouth, and Cyril Ngonge from Hellas Verona. The Partenopei are currently outside of a European placement in Serie A.
