Liverpool beat Newcastle United 2-1

Newcastle United would have thought they had this one in the bag after controlling a major amount of the game, especially after Liverpool's legendary defender, Virgil van Dijk, was sent out at the 28-minute mark. The steadfast enthusiasm of Liverpool, though, which was fueled by their burgeoning rivalry with Newcastle, had other ideas. When Nunez levelled in the 81st minute, the whole Liverpool contingent exploded in celebration. The elation peaked when the same individual gave the Reds a victory in extra time.

Alisson's outstanding stop from Miguel Almiron's effort was one among Newcastle's highlights. Liverpool's tenacity nonetheless came through. The Salah and Jota combined move that resulted in Nunez's opening goal served as the pinnacle of their comeback. The second goal by Uruguay, again set up by Salah, was the deciding blow for Newcastle.
