Lyon beat Toulouse 3-2 in the French league

In the French league on Friday, Lyon defeated Toulouse 3-2 in a thrilling match that saw Irish defender Jake O'Brien score the game's last goal. The win continued Lyon's recent good form and built a five-point margin between them in 10th place and Toulouse in 11th. Under Pierre Sage, the coach who took over in November when the seven-time champion was at the bottom of the Ligue 1 standings, the team has won nine of its past twelve games.

The most recent victory was never certain in an exciting finish in Toulouse. After recovering from an injury, Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette gave the visitors a 1-0 lead after 32 minutes with his tenth goal in ten league outings. But Toulouse responded quickly in the second half thanks to goals from Thijs Dallinga and Vincent Sierro. Rayan Cherki gave Lyon an equalizer nine minutes later, and O'Brien finished his corner to give Lyon the victory.
